Pink Floyd are awesome and I really like Dark Side, but The Beatles albums are just so damn good that no other band can come close. Even though it's original listeners are grown now, everyone still gets those times when they feel they want to look back on their own pasts, and this album is inspiring the next generation as well. All song are so diverse and so unique that the best of PF and Beatles and LZ also can be only second to it. In my opinion doolittle, ziggy stardust, in rainbows, plastic ono band and bringing it all back home should be top 20, all far better than sgt peppers and thriller. Maybe not the greatest album ever, but this was so painfully low and is truly an outstanding work of art. A cohesive reflection on black identity with amazing lyricisim and impressive experimentation. Perfect album. Jimmy Page puts his heart and soul into stairway, John Paul Jones shows up with one of the most powerful bass riffs ever in "When the Levy Breaks," John Bonham kicks it up to 11 in "Four Sticks" and Robert Plant has never sounded like he's had more fun than in "Rock and Roll." It's very consistent. I don't like the argument that just because an album was the "foundation" for other albums that followed means that album was greater. I was completely awestruck. There are great hip-hop albums, and then there's "Illmatic."
