It is quite clear now that the group has 'moved on' from their death-metal beginnings to a progressive rock sound.
Wow! Opeth is a band that does simply not try to replicate past glories, use formulas, release half-worked leftover material or jump any bandwagons.

I, for one, am glad he's not doing any more growling vocals in the studio.
If you don't have bass controls to adjust on your amp I'd avoid this pressing. 1 When adjusted my copy sounds great.
There is some good production on this album and yet, for reasons known only to Tom Dalgety and Mikael Åkerfeldt certain tracks have been mastered to within an inch of their lives.

Pressed on 180-gram wax with 2 bonus tracks! The avoidance of the heavy vocals here feels a tad strained at times.
They have evolved and this may disappoint some but this is a great collection of songs, creative and powerful showcasing a band in their mature prime.

Awesome! Opeth is my favorite band and I paid more for lower sounding quality than digital. Another Opeth record..Yes.

It is a journey, and it is surely exciting.
Sorceress is the twelfth studio album by the Swedish progressive rock band Opeth.
I have this version and am not very impressed with the sound quality of it.

And while "Watershed" was accepted as an experiment by the group that had always been on the 'cutting-edge' of their genre, "Heritage" was panned as more and more fans began to recognize that Opeth was indeed headed in a new direction entirely. They have become well known for their unique change and always-evolving style.
2 This album just simply rocks...musically brilliant. When adjusted my copy sounds great. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. But the whole collection is really, really great music.
This album is a Masterpiece - an absolutely sensational album. Sorceress 2 7.
Certainly not even close to their best work, but maybe this CD is the best of "New Opeth".

Made me appreciate this album much more than I had.
Took a few listens till I realised this was an album I will revisit frequently.
Well worth getting though in my opinion, just love this album.
