SITEBC Career Development Workshop, Seminar at the Vancouver Public Library.

Recently, SITE BC has organized a seminar at VPL Downtown. Rick Turdubay, Managing Director of Aitur Group Ltd has attended the SITE BC (Society of Internationally Trained Engineers of BC) Seminar at the Vancouver Public Library. Actually, the event has been organised very well. The main topic of this Seminar or short career development workshop was focused on giving all the Internationally Trained Engineers (ITEs) and Internationally Trained Professionals (ITPs) a wide exploration in how to establish a new career path in Canada as an Engineer or Technologist.  

List of the Workshop Speakers:

  • Ms. Lori Akiyama  – Path2Work Program Manager, CME.

              Topic: Updates of Path2Work Program (a continual program of E-MAP).

  • Mr. Nick Pashos – Senior Recruiter Lead, Engineering, Aerotek Canada.                                

              Topic: The Hot Skill Sets & What People Are Hiring For In The Engineering Market, General Trends Within The Staffing Industry.

  • Mr. Paul Cheng  P.Eng. – Operations Planning Engineer, BC Hydro.

             Topic: Job Search Strategies Course and Experience Sharing.

  • Mr. Jason Jung  AScT  -  Manager, Professional Practice & Development, ASTT BC.

            Topic: Introduction of ASTT BC & Alternative Choices for ITEs / ITPs   

After individual talk on different topics from different Speakers, there was a panel discussion with guest panelists ranging from hiring managers, P. Eng. positions, ASTT BC, APEG BC and Path2Work of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Rick Turdubay warmly expressed thanks to the SITE BC management team for the excellent organized event and Guest Speakers for their time and sharing information and experience. The special thanks were convoyed to Mr. Paul Cheng, from BC Hydro for his mentoring program which already helped hundred and hundred new immigrants in British Columbia.As per some participants request, Mr. Rick Turdubay shared with the information about the Aitur Group Ltd consulting, corporate training, seminars, workshops, private training  and equipment infrared inspection services.

Thanks to the SITE BC team participants of the event had a unique opportunity to learn and networking in various professional career fields such as the consulting and training, electrical and mechanical engineering, operations and work planning, project management and etc.
